This book has been on my mind for over a decade. I have an old notebook filled with various story ideas about Violet when I was in my early 20s! While it's important to acknowledge that music programs are being cancelled, I didn't want that to be the main focus of Violet's Violin. I want to leave that concept, and the ending of the book open for discussion between parents and kids about the importance of music. This book is about the importance of sharing music, and how music can help bring people together. Many of the wonderful memories that Violet has while traveling are related to my experiences growing up as a Suzuki violinist. I like to think of Violet's Violin as a simple story about finding ways to share your music and the joy it can bring.
